I light the pilot while pressing the red button as

Customer Question

I light the pilot while pressing the red button as instructed, on my slantfin galaxy gg 250 hdp boiler. The flame catches. I let the red button go while turning the blue knob for the pilot flame to catch with the rest of the "burners" portion of the boiler. The pilot keeps going out as I let the red button go. Any idea as to the problem?

The most likely cause of what you describe is a bad thermocouple. The thermocouple is the flame sensor in the pilot flame. In a case like this the first thing we would do is replace the thermocouple.
