My hp23 stops cooling when the temperature outside gets to

Customer Question

My hp23 stops cooling when the temperature outside gets to about 85-90 degrees. What would be the cause of that?

Hi I'm Brian and I'm here to help!

The most like reason for that is the compressor (not whole unit, fan would still run) is getting hot and cutting out on it's thermal overload. This could be caused by low refrigerant, dirty outdoor coil or a few rare very technical problems in the refrigerant circuit. I would try using some Simple Green and a garden hose to clean the outdoor coil first. See how that works and let me know.
