inside unit turns on, no cooling, after a few min. E6 shows on screen,
outside unit attempts to start the cooling fan but starts and turns off and than starts over again and continues.
replaced batteries in remote, no change, checked wiring from inside to outside for problem, nothing found

If the wiring is ok...then we likely have a bad circuit board. Generally this is the outdoor circuit board.
Do you have a meter ?

i do have a meter, me = retired master auto tech
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 2 years ago.
First lets do an obvious check on the outdoor circuit board. Since you are already well versed in electronics I will not need to cover safety/power issues.
We want to look at back of the board for any hot spots or discoloration.
As mentioned, the number one cause for this code is a defective board so we will start visual.
If the board appears to be in good condition...restore power and verify proper input voltage.
Then we can move forward

i found a dead gecko in the pc board container after removing the cover,
is the board "glued" down to the plastic box its in ?
took out six screws that looked apparent to remove board from holder but it acts like its got an adhesion to the container?
dont want to break it.
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
ok got it off no noticeable burn marks , etc. putting it back down unless we need to check back side for voltage or ohm tests
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
i have line voltage at AC-L1 7 AC-N1
when 1st turned back on outside fan started for about 3-4 seconds and shut off,
than it attempts to turn back on and than a relay clicks turning it off,
after several of these - interior monitor displays E6
led on board does not flash any codes
