Customer Question

Hello I have a trane XB80 IB model not sure which one, that has a 100 volt main blower motor. I had this unit with the A/C put in my house 1 year ago, since that time I have retired and im looking for any cost savings. I would like to ask if I can replace this motor with a 220 motor and if there are any special wiring changes I need to make. from looking at the wiring diagram it looks like I may be able to keep the wireing the same and add the second leg of 110 independent. I am not sure if this is possible and would appreciate any sugestions you could give.

I hope I will not be charged twice

Since the motor is controlled through the furnace control board it will be necesaary to stay with the original motor. To answer the question if it is possible, you could probably install a separate 220 volt circuit and install a relay that would energize the motor, but doing this would void warranty on the equipment.
