A friend has a Thermalzone heat pump system model #

Customer Question

A friend has a Thermalzone heat pump system model # ***** .it stopped cooling and I checked it out for her.I found that it had lost the refrigerant because a wire had rubbed through the insulation and blown a small hole in the line. I repaired the
hole (silver brazed) and vacuumed down the system and weighed in a charge. it had run for a couple of days without refrigerant. I overcharged it badly (I normally work on boat hvac systems, I am licensed) and now the compressor seems to be bad. Did I do this,
or did running for 2 or 3 days do it in? I want to do the right thing.

If there is no low pressure switch...then it was probably bad or close to it..
Have you decreased the charge?
Does compressor run but not pump?
Is compressor seized?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I did decrease the charge; actully I recovered it and weighed in 4# ***** It showed very low pressures at first and eventually equalized at the same pressure both high and low.I don't believe the compressor is seized.

if the pressures are the same while running then the compressor is defective
