Customer Question

Hi
I have a Nordyne ET48D-042K A/C and I am connecting a new thermostat, I need to know if it is just Heat and Cool, 2 Stage Heat -1 Stage Cool etc, so that I can adjust the stat.
Can you advise please?

That is a single stage cooling heat pump.
It is also single stage heat Unless.....unless you have electric heat in the air handler...then it is single stage with emergency heat

Thanks Billy, these are my options to set up, which do I select
1) HEAT and COOL
2) 2 stage HEAT, 1 Stage COOL
3) 1 stage HEAT, 2 stage COOL
4) 2 stage HEAT, 2 stage COOL
or it would seem
"If you have a HEAT PUMP HVAC system
5) HEAT PUMP with no AUX heat
6) 2 stage HEAT PUMP with no AUX
7) HEAT PUMP with 2stage AUX HEAT
8) 2stg HEAT PUMP with AUX heat
9) 2stg HEAT PUMP with 2stg AUX heatThe system does have emergency heat as I recall.I am trying to fit a LOwes IRIS CT101 wireless stat, replacing a Honeywell TN5220DThanksHoward

You will want number 7.
It becomes a 2 stage heat by adding the electric heat strip option

If all set please rate service so I can remove from active list.

Hi Billy, I have run out of time tonight. Option 7 didn't appear to work, the compressor didn't start. Re fitted the Honeywell now and it's working. Probably Saturday pm before I get back to it. Thanks so far.Howard

If 7 did not work..then it is wired wrong or the delay was timed out yet. 5 min delay on compressor in the new thermostat to prevent short cycling
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I am pretty sure it's wired correctly. I will try again on Sat. Will you be around?
Expert:  BillyHvac replied 2 years ago.
I do not know. I do this around my regular job so I log in as I have time.

OK, this is what I am replacing the Honeywell with http://www.lowes.com/campaign/iris/pdf/CT101_IBIE_18jun12_revised.pdf
It connects wirelessly to an intruder alarm system I have installed. We are from the UK and this a short term rental property in FL we own and we are only here until Mon next. We arrived to find that we had been burgled for the 3rd time, hence the alarm installation which was a doddle to do. I am a trained electronics technician but I know nothing about air con systems.RegardsHoward
