This answer was rated:

i have an old williamson furnace. i went to change/clean filters on the side of the furnace and accidentally hit this white (reset?) button and it turned off blower right away and now its been 2 hours and it hasnt turned back on! What do you think happened?

Rick :

Welcome, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I will do my best to help you with your issue.

It sounds like you hit the manual fan ON button on the fan/limit control

Rick :

That shouldn't affect anything other than running the fan manually. We would have to do some trouble shooting to figure out why the furnace isn't working now. I assume the house is getting cold?

Customer: yes
Rick :

Would you like to try some trouble shooting?

Customer: sure! give me 3 minutes
Rick :

Ok, let me know when you're ready

Customer: ok im not too familiar with parts and stuff so i need you to be very detailed
Customer: im ready
Rick :

Ok, is this oil or gas fired? do you have a multi-meter?

Customer: gas fired
Customer: no multi meter
Rick :

Well that will limit what we can do. Does it have a pilot that's lit all the time? does it have a fan on the exhaust?

Customer: yes theres a pilot thats lit now
Customer: and yes theres a fan
Rick :

I'm talking about a fan on the exhaust vent not the blower that moves air through the vents. Is the exhaust fan running?

Customer: nothing is running now
Rick :

and you have a draft inducing fan on the exhaust?

Customer: Im not sure. Can i send a picture to u?
Rick :

You can post a picture here by clicking on the paper clip icon in the tool bar at the top of this dialogue box. You can only do this from a PC or a Mac not a phone or a tablet. I'd like to see where the exhaust connects to the furnace and this white button you hit

Rick :

I assume you checked the breaker in the electrical panel

Customer: i have an ipad
Customer: it worked! it was the fuse!
Rick :

Glad it's working

Customer: but the blower is not on yet i just heard the furnace turn on after switching the fuse
Rick :

The blower usually doesn't come on until the unit heats up on older models

Customer: ok it just turned on
Rick :

So you're all set?

Customer: yes sir- and thank u
Rick :

You're welcome!
