regarding White-Rodgers thermostat Type No. 1F89-211, class

Resolved Question:

regarding White-Rodgers thermostat Type No. 1F89-211, class 2 - the wires were removed from terminal without identifying/labeling wire. it appears 6 of 8 wires were used - red, orange, green, yellow, white, and gray - black and blue wires were tucked back into wall. have located wiring diagram, but it does not specify wire colors. please advise.
Need to reinstall thermostat ASAP - current temperature outside is 30 degrees.
was attempting to replace this thermostat with programmable Honeywell model, but set up is 2-5 wires. White-Rodgers model has 6 wires in use.

Make sure the wires do not touch or you will blow a fuse. Turn power off before connecting to avoid this.

JACUSTOMER-r5h9v56g- :

power to HVAC shut off at fuse box. beneath the second row of terminals there is a small black switch that can be toggled left or right - which way should it go?

M Oglesby :

Leave it where it is.

JACUSTOMER-r5h9v56g- :

it's toggled to the left.

M Oglesby :

If that is where it has always been, it should remain there.

JACUSTOMER-r5h9v56g- :

not sure where it was - the person who removed the thermostat did not say

M Oglesby :

Try to hook the thermostat with it there and if it does not work, we will toggle it to the right.
