I have a Ruud Silhouette II gas furnace model # UGPH-10EAMER

Customer Question

I have a Ruud Silhouette II gas furnace model # XXXXX - serial # XXXXX mfd 6/2004. right now it is running and most likely will through the night. every so often after the temp gets lower then the setting, the top small motor turns and after a few moments the ignitor clicks and ignites only to shut off after about 5-8 seconds. the blower continues to blow "not heated " air. when it works, the 2 green lights are on and the yellow flashes continuously.

This is a symptom of the flame not being detected.

Do you see the part that resembles the picture posted below?

Use sandpaper or a file to clean the metal part off.

This is called the flame sensor.

The sensor will be mounted so that it is located in the path of the flames.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

there are what appears to be 2 of them--one is the ignitor? i cleaned them up. the 2 green lights are on and the yellow flashes continuously--is this normal operation? also, i won't be able to know if it works until, for obvious reasons, it doesn't again. it is a "complete flameout"

I am not sure of the sequence the lights should flash.

Usually there is a legend for that on the panel for the blower compartment.

Please let me know if you continue to have problems.

Absolutely. I will refer another expert.

i cleaned the flame sensor and after reading the troubleshooting guide inside the door it seems to be what you said. the yellow light isn't blinking as of now which it was before. it says if the light was flashing it could be a weak or marginal current. thanks for now.

I understand you have cleaned the sensor now?
