Hi there. Congrats on your new horse!
I would see how he settles in, allow him to drink, wet down any food he may get, and monitor the urination.
If he stretches out as if to urinate but then doesn't urinate, he may be acting colicky so I would ring your vet if this is the case.
What color is the urine he is passing?
How long has he been home for?
Has he passed manure?
Ok - it sounds like he is eating and drinking and passing manure. Is there anyone that will be able to check on him once more tonight?
If he is pawing, laying down and rolling (getting up without shaking off), looking at his belly - then I would ring your veterinarian.
I think that is a good plan!
Did you have any additional questions for me?
I am hopeful too.
Have a good night!
