Customer Question
I’ve noticed right before...

I’ve noticed right before Christmas my 35 year old gelding was having urinary leakage. Checked his sheath for any foreign objects or debree. None found. This evening he was laying down looking ruff didn’t want to get up but I got a bucket of food and his leash got him to his stall. I noticed he had some drainage spots on his underneath like thin brown mustard pasty to the touch no smell to it. Once up I see it’s draining from his sheath area. Couldn’t rinse him the weather was to cold plus our electric was ou until just recently. Is there something I should do and should I call a Vet in the morning? He is drinking and eating. He is on SafeChoice Senior 2 scoops a day and 3/4 of a scoop12% Wrangler pellets with being on pasture all day and in a stall at night. Please advise

Veterinarian's Assistant: I'll do all I can to help. Could be a lot of things that cause lethargy. The Expert will know how to help the geld. What is the geld's name?

RiffRaff he’s 1/2 Qaurter horse and 1/2 registered Arabian. I’ve had him since he was 8 years old and normally a very easy keeper. My regular vet has aged and does not see equine or bovine any longer so I feel stuck.

Veterinarian's Assistant: Is there anything else the Veterinarian should be aware of about the geld?

He’s current on his VEWT, West Niles and deworming.

Hello. I am Jay. An equine veterinarian with 27 years of experience.
You do need to find an equine veterinarian to examine RiffRaff. He could have a stone that has formed in his bladder. He will need to be palpated, likely an ultrasound exam, and possibly an edoscopic exam of his bladder. The stone can usually be removed but requires moderate to major surgery.
The other possibility is he has sludge in his bladder that will need to be flushed out and treated with antibiotics.
I hope this is helpful, if you have other questions please respond back.
When we are done please remember to rate me. 5 stars will be greatly appreciated.
