Customer Question
I have a 17 year...
I have a 17 year old Crabett Arab gelding
He has had minimal health issues since I have had him since 3 months
3 days ago Infound him resting in my pasture.(there is only trees,no grass)
I went to get him to excercise and when he got up he could barely walk.
He has come up twice with an abcess in his foot.(he has always been barefoot)
My farrier came out thinking it was an abcess and says it isn't.
All four heels are hot
We gave him bute, packed his feet with epsom salve.
I am at my wits end as getting a vet out here is incredibly difficult.
I have called four and been told that I can expect a response within 72 hours!!!
Any suggestions I would be greatful for

Greetings: I'm sorry to hear about the problems you are having with Dudley, as well as your frustration with trying to get him seen! I'm Dan C., DVM and have a few questions for you concerning Dudley, so we can get a good idea about his condition.

1): Do you know if he has had any previous health problems before you acquired him three months ago?

2): How would you judge Dudley's weight (overweight, thin, etc.)?

3): How much Bute did you give him, and did it seem to help his lameness?

4): What is his current diet, and have there been any diet changes recently?

5): Has he had access to fresh, green pasture?

Thanks in advance, and I"m looking forward to working with you.
