Hello & welcome, I am Dr. B, a licensed veterinarian and I would like to help you today.

What is the milligrams per cc of the Banamine you used?

What route was it given?

What is her weight approximately?

How long since she last had Dex?

Hello again,

Now given her weight and the potency of the Banamine preparation, this is actually an under dose for her size (just over a half dose). So, the dose is safe for her. Though as she has had Dex recently there is a risk of interaction of the drugs as both have some overlapping adverse signs. Namely, both can lower gut mucus levels leading to possible GI upset and sometimes stomach ulcers (less likely at the lower dose). So, we have 2 options. One we can administer OTC activated charcoal (carried at most vets or farm supply store to bind this and reduce the dose she absorbs further) to err on the side of caution. Otherwise, we'd want to monitor her feed intake and encourage her to eat over the next 24 hours (just as that will soak up stomach acid to reduce those risks). Of course, any belly pain, appetite loss or black stool (without having had charcoal, since that can discolour stools) then we'd want to have her local vet assess her with a view to starting gastroprotectants if needed.

Kind regards,

Dr. B.
