Good Morning and welcome! I am Dr. Loretta, a licensed veterinarian and I am happy to answer your question.

I am so sorry that it has taken so long to answer your question. I believe that you are referring to Thrush. THis has been found to be caused by a bacterium and not a fungus called Fusobacterium necrphorum. WE often though tis was a fungus origin but that does not seem to be the case. This LINK can explain.

Mud Fever, on the other hand, is a fungus called Dermatophytes but this causes "Scratches" located at the pastern and heel.

This LINK can explain in better detail.

I hope that helps.

Does that make sense to you?

Please let me know if you have ANY other questions. My goal is to give you 100% satisfaction and if you are not yet satisfied, please REPLY so I can clarify for you.

Sincerely, ***** *****
