I have a mare that has evidence of founder in her right
I have a mare that has evidence of founder in her right front hoof. According to her x-ray, it is only a slight rotation. She has been doing well while on shoes. But due to her hoof growing out in an extremely dished fashion her farrier recommended removing her shoes to allow for space and time for it to correct itself. Lately there appears to be a hard lump on her pastern. I remember when it first came about. She was in her pasture and stepped weird after being spooked by a falling branch. The area, that now has the hard lump, became warm and tender when I touched it. This area was soft tissue at the time. I cold hosed the area for 10 minutes and applied a liniment. I continued this process for about 4 days. She was fine. Now this hard lump. She is currently on AniMed PureFlex and takes Equioxx 5 days a week. She responds well after cold hosing. Is there anything else I can do? At what point should I have her examined by the vet? Thank you … read more
