2000 Honda Accord. The battery is dead. When I connect

Customer Question

2000 Honda Accord. The battery is dead. When I connect cables to another car, the factory installed alarm goes off and I am not able to start the car
JA: Did you test the battery with a voltmeter? And have you ever changed one before?
Customer: No. And no
JA: Are you fixing your Accord yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: I just want to jump start it
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: No

Connect the cables again, and when the alarm goes off, use your key in the drivers door to lock and unlock the door. This will turn the alarm off for you and the car will start.

I tried this. It did not work
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

Did you have all the doors closed?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
All doors were closed and locked
Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I can try it again now
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

Did you have the doors unlocked, then lock them with the key, ten unlock the door?

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I can try it
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

The alarm has to see the key lock and unlock the door with in 2 seconds to turn the alarm off.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Do you think it has anything to do with the remote and battery in the remote
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

Did you use the key itself to lock and unlock the door? Even if the remote is not working the key should turn the alarm off.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
I used the key itself. I only tried the driver door. Should I try the passenger door?
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

Yes. The micro switch may be damaged in the drivers door.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ok. I will try again tomorrow. Too late to disturb my neighbours with the annoying alarm.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

Let me know if you have any trouble.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Ok. Thanks.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

You are very welcome.

Still does not work. Tried driver and passenger doors. Alarm keeps going. Not able to boost car.
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

Can you send me a couple of pics of the under hood area please? You may have an aftermarket alarm on the car.

Customer: replied 7 months ago.
Here is a photo of the sticker on the door and 2 from under the hood
Expert:  kalamykid replied 7 months ago.

I do not see an aftermarket system on it. Can you disconnect the battery and charge it? The hood may have a switch on it as well, that would require the hood to be closed for the alarm to be reset.
