Customer Question
I bought an 2017...

I bought an 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid last March. Ever since I have had the car, there has been a problem with "Lane Deviation" and "Cruise Control" come on the dashboard. When I stop the car and turn off the motor, then start again, the lights go away after a short distance. What would cause that and is that a common problem? Our Honda dealer service dept said it was a brake switch and replaced it, didn't help. Now they say it is using my left foot on the brake. Is that possible?

Mechanic's Assistant: Have you checked the fuse? What size is your engine?

We didn't check anything. The service dept department did everything.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Accord Hybrid yourself? What have you tried so far?

No I am not trying to fix it myself. The Honda service department where I bought the car has been the ones working on the problem.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

I don't think so. Just really wondering if using my left foot on the brake could cause the problem.

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer! I apologize for the extended wait time you experienced, I've only just come online now and would like to assist you with your question.

Touching the brake pedal enough to close the brake switch contacts while driving will definitely cause issues in multiple systems, if it's done for long enough then it can even close the throttle blade for safety.

Do you know what fault codes are setting?

Your answers were clear and the diagrams were perfect. Dealer wanted $87 for an hour of labor and even I did it in 15 minutes.

HONDA PLATINUM was great. I really appreciate his help. I was ready to trade my new Honda until he told me to wait until I got 3,000 miles on it and my gas mileage would get much better.

I took the Power Steering O-Ring service bulletin linked from JustAnswer to my Acura dealer, and not only did they no-charge the o-ring, they also replaced the power steering pump at no cost.
