Customer Question
My mom's 2003 Honda Accord...
My mom's 2003 Honda Accord Accelerated on it own right after she started the card and was about to back out of the garage. She never put her foot on the gas and was unable to stop the car. She stopped because the car hit a fire hydrant across the street.

how much should that cost to have the dealer to fix?
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

someone had mentioned something about disconnecting the cruise control throttle
Customer reply replied 1 month ago
i meant about how much if it WAS the linkage cable
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

yes, there are 2 cables that attach to the linkage. one for the cruise control and one for the accelerator pedal

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 month ago

you should be able to look at the linkage and move it up and down yourself without having to take it to a shop

Your answers were clear and the diagrams were perfect. Dealer wanted $87 for an hour of labor and even I did it in 15 minutes.

HONDA PLATINUM was great. I really appreciate his help. I was ready to trade my new Honda until he told me to wait until I got 3,000 miles on it and my gas mileage would get much better.

SummerUSA

I took the Power Steering O-Ring service bulletin linked from JustAnswer to my Acura dealer, and not only did they no-charge the o-ring, they also replaced the power steering pump at no cost.
