The key for my 2004 Honda Accord is stuck in my ignition. I can’t turn my car into the off position while in park.

Mechanic's Assistant: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?

The key is perfectly fine. I can only turn my wheel while the car starts up.

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your Accord yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes I am. I’ve tried starting the car to adjust the wheel position and putting the car into a different gear and back into park. Nothing has worked so far.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

My car also has 260,000+ miles.

Are you able to turn the key to the position before off which shuts the engine off?

If you disconnect the negative battery cable, are you able to turn the key off?

I just heard from my mechanic. You were right...a $45.00 job. THANK YOU!! Your response was received in less than 10 minutes!!

Linda B.USA

Your answers were clear and the diagrams were perfect. Dealer wanted $87 for an hour of labor and even I did it in 15 minutes.

EdUSA

HONDA PLATINUM was great. I really appreciate his help. I was ready to trade my new Honda until he told me to wait until I got 3,000 miles on it and my gas mileage would get much better.

I took the Power Steering O-Ring service bulletin linked from JustAnswer to my Acura dealer, and not only did they no-charge the o-ring, they also replaced the power steering pump at no cost.

Mary C.Freshfield, Liverpool, UK
