Yesterday i replaced the starter in our 2003 crv which required the removal and reinstallation of the air intake manifold. now the vehicle will not idle properly. RPM cycles between 400 and 800 rpm. not sure what i missed during re-installation

Mechanic's Assistant: How many miles are on the car? What size is the engine?

183K, 2.4

Mechanic's Assistant: Are you fixing your CR-V yourself? What have you tried so far?

Yes , working on it at home.

Mechanic's Assistant: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

No, i am pretty sure all connections are good, was going to try removing the guard underneath the front bumper to look up and verify vacuum line connections

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will be assisting you with all of your vehicle questions today. Give me one moment while I review your question and come back with a answer. Please be aware I do not know your skill level or abilities so I will be asking a lot of questions and in a lot of cases we will respond to each other quite a lot before we find a solution. As far as phone calls are concerned that is the system prompting you, not me, and they do cost more money, I prefer text but in some cases a phone call is required.

You may have pinched a gasket, did you replace with new gaskets?

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
i did not remove the throttle body from the manifold, so i did not replace gaskets
Mechanic for Honda: Mechanic01, ASE Certified Technician replied 1 year ago

I would double check the intake gaskets and if thats not it you may need to do a throttle body, MAF and IAC clean and reprogram

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
I figured it out myself, i bleed the coolimg system, checked for vacuum leaks, and cleaned the IAC valve. reset the system. now it runs fine. This site was a waste of money. If I receive additional charges I will contact my attorney.

HONDA PLATINUM was great. I really appreciate his help. I was ready to trade my new Honda until he told me to wait until I got 3,000 miles on it and my gas mileage would get much better.

I took the Power Steering O-Ring service bulletin linked from JustAnswer to my Acura dealer, and not only did they no-charge the o-ring, they also replaced the power steering pump at no cost.
