I have an honda accord 2007. My inside fan is not blowing

Customer Question
Hi, I have an honda accord...
Hi,
I have an honda accord 2007. My inside fan is not blowing air at all. I diagonised the car at honda
deleaership & they mentioned that blower motor & resistor have power.
they found issue in control unit fo the system. control unit fixing is extremenly expensive $$$ for me.
I tried to replaced control unit with used one, but non of used unit worked.
I diagonised teh car again at Pepboys, but mechanic was not sure what exactly is problem. He told that power
was coming to motor but there was some grounding issue so he was trying to find the grounding.
What should I do now?
Thanks,
SHakeb

Hi Im david, if the blower motor has power to it and its not blower then the blower motor is bad.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
ok, but Pepboys mechanic told that the power which blower motor is getting is now exactly the way it should get. The ground terminal was not correct & the other terminal was getting ground. Something like the ground was reversed. I am not sure if I got this one from him correctly but this is what he told.

Its showing 14v ,
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Earlier i connected in wrong way
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
it has power. I connected black wire from multimeter to black wire & other to other
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

so if it has power on the high setting, go to a lower setting.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
I checked on lower settings. Its showing the same 14v
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

well if you have power at the connector and when you plug it in it doesnt work, then you have a bad blower motor.

Customer reply replied 1 year ago
adding to your comment, honda service people also said same thing to me that power is coming but also motor is working fine. Is that possible?
Is there something motor is grounded?
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Are you there?..
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

the motor grounds to the case. the ground for the circuit is thru the relay. if you wantyou can cut a wire and strip the ends and add a ground from one of the mounting bolts for the motor and run it to the cassis any where near the motor.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
I am really not sure how to do that
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
But do you feel its grounding issue?
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

did they put 12 volts to the motor and saw it run?

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Honda service never show how they fix
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

ok, the motor is being grounded thru the resistor on all the fan settings except high. plug the motor back in and turn it on high.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Ok. I did
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

with the key on, did it work?

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
No
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

then the only thing it possibly can be is the fan switch. thats it.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
But how the fan switch will be an issue if motor is receiving power?
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

which means you need to replace the control panel.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

the motor is receiving power thru the fuses and relay

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

its not recieving switched ground from the fan switch.... look at the print. each position.... the switch is grounded.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

do not over think it anymore. the panel needs replaced.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
even though fan is getting power from relay, fuses, still it will not work because the fan switch is not grounded. So what is function if relay ground. I thought that would have worked. Jaut curious to know to convince my self
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

the relay ground is there to energize the relay coil to pull the relay contact closed to supply power to the blower motor. which it is doing

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Ok. You are more expect. Its complicated for me.
So you dont want me to test any motor ground or to apply 12v to motor if its working or not?
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

the operation of the motor is control by the fan switch through the resistor on all settings except hi. each switch position supplies the operating ground for the blower motor speed.

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

no. replace the panel

Ask Your Own Honda Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Ok. Now panel replacement will cost me $1600 excluding tax if I do it from Honda service.
& if I do it by myself, they problems Are I am not sure if I order part which Honda guy gave me part # will work or not. So part exact cost is $650 if I purchase by myself

Mechanic for Honda: david craig, Auto Mechanic replied 1 year ago

Now thats another issue I am struggling with. I ordered part from ebay from supplier called originalcaraudio in cheap, they send me a part whcih it didnt worked. They send me replacement part , but still it didnt worked
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Now I am thinking if Honda is making every year or every model control panel unit different which it doesnt fit if its not matching
