how old is battery and has it been tested with a load tester

any after market components ?

any check engine light on ?

have you had it scanned with a honda scanner or equivalent & retreieve any faults codes ,hinda scanner can communicate with all the car modules , nit just engine module , let say that is what advance auto or auto zone offer .

alternator is charging 14 volts plus with all loads on , ac, radio , headlights etc.. have you checked ?

have you tried to test for the drain if the above is good

Battery Drainage Test

turn ignition switch off and wait 5 minutes before performing this test ,to let all modules go to sleep & stop drawing power

1- Voltmeter
2- settings on voltmeter will be on milli amps.
3- go across all the fuses in the car and see which one is reading higher than 0.3 to 0.5 milli amps
4- the fuse drawing more than 0.5 ,will be the suspected circuit that needs inspection for the battery drainage.

Please let me know

Thank You

car is at Honda dealer for the 3rd time. They have ran all the above test and can't find problem. They have tested for drain and can't locate.
Expert:  Chad Farhat replied 10 months ago.

i m not sure of why they cant find ,if the test was done correctly they should .

i m not sure how i can help on this one .

how long does it take to drain ,1 day 2 days a week , what is th rate of drain ?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
It can die in as little as a hour and a half. It is an exl with push button and honda remoter starter. Dealer can never find draw on battery and next time check can be dead or stays fine for the whole day or so. Random draws without anything done to vehicle. Trying to find someone who had faced issue and fixed it.. Several posts on internet about problem but no one posted any fix.

i understand ,1 hour & 1/2 is pretty big drain, i m surprised they cant find it , they don't know how to test for a battery drain

i will open up the question for another expert maybe they ran into it .

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If the draw is intermittent it can be tough to find. They may not have been able to find the issue because the problem isn't present at the time they were testing.

Any electrical component that receives a constant battery feed with the engine off can cause a draw. One thing that is often overlooked is the alternator. It's possible that the draw was actually present when they were testing but they only checked fused circuits and didn't isolate the alternator.

Are there any aftermarket electrical items on the car?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No. But the Honda remote starter was added to the car after purchase. They claim they ran all types of testing on the alternator.
Expert:  sprinkles08 replied 10 months ago.

Did they actually see the draw present though?

Customer: replied 10 months ago.
No never saw draw. Ran test everything fine. One hour and a half later battery was dead again.
Expert:  sprinkles08 replied 10 months ago.

If the draw wasn't present then they couldn't test the alternator to see if it was the cause. Testing has to be done at the time the draw is present.
