2006 civic coupe 5spd...trouble starting...when turning key

Customer Question

2006 civic coupe 5spd...trouble starting...when turning key we some times hear a just a click, sometimes starter will stay turning but don't roll engine over and some times its like having a dead battery
JA: Did you test the battery with a voltmeter? And have you ever changed one before?
Customer: never tested the battery but we did but two new rebuilt starters on it keeps doing same thing
JA: Are you fixing your Civic yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: yes in our driveway witch isnt fun laying on ground under the car
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?
Customer: we've just tried replacing the starer so far but seems funny that 2 out of the box rebuilds, one from NAPA and the other from CarQuest does the same as the original that was in the car was doing

This condition is caused by low system voltage. Either the battery is bad, low on a charge or you have a bad connection at or after the battery (before the starter)

What is the battery voltage at when trying to start the engine?

Expert:  Amedee replied 10 months ago.

When was the last time the battery was replaced? Your battery might just be bad.
