Hi there.

That usually happens when the cable reel connector fails. The cable reel cannot be repaired, it needs to be replaced. The new part costs less than $50 - click here to view sample

Removing the old unit and installing a new one takes less than 1 hour using common tools (Torx drivers, snap ring pliers, steering wheel puller, ratchet and sockets, etc.). The battery negative cable will have to be disconnected to disarm the ARS/Air bag system before removing the steering wheel, so make sure to save and record all the necessary codes for the radio, alarm, etc. before doing so.
