Hello, I have a 2005...
Hello, I have a 2005 Honda civic ex, I am having first time issue that started today, my vehicle exhibits a whining noise from the engine compartment the issue has only been noticed in drive and neutral on acceleration(not decel). The vehicle has 109k, the timing belt, waterpump, tensioner, and serpentine belt were replaced at 90k. Any ideas what it could be?

Also, the noise was present for around 15-20min, on an engine that was at operating temperature. It went away just a little while ago and I drove another 8-10miles and now I have parked and it is not present any longer

a few things come to mind

a alternator bearing or a power steering pump noise or something else in the system

Okay. I am opening the hood, the noise was no longer there when I parked around 10min ago. But if it makes the noise I will record it
Mechanic for Honda: MASTER TECH, Honda Technician replied 2 years ago

ok also if you can try to isolate the noise like the drive belt area or the transmission side ?

can you tell me if the noise is affected by the rpm or load on the motor ?

I do have a YouTube account. Someone mentioned that I should put some sort of lucas additive when I do my oil change this week. Because it could be some sort of bearing?

I took the Power Steering O-Ring service bulletin linked from JustAnswer to my Acura dealer, and not only did they no-charge the o-ring, they also replaced the power steering pump at no cost.
