2000 Honda Accord coupe with v6... While driving or on

Customer Question

2000 Honda Accord coupe with v6... While driving or on startup, dash displays brake warning light and digits of odometer get weird, some segments of the numbers disappear. Problem is intermittent. Is this low system voltage or something more sinister?

good morning my name is ***** ***** I will assist

the odometer display may be a connection issue at the cluster or and internal failure of the cluster.

the red brake light, if the odometer is working, is the light still on???

The Brake warning light happens at the same time the odometer gets weird. It's off right now and the display looks normal, and odometer shows correct mileage. SRS light is on too, just since a week ago. It's always on.

Main relay was replaced a few months ago to correct problem of stalling/no start.

ok, I would suspect that the cluster has a bad connection either at the back where it connects to the dash harness or internal in the cluster. I would check the connector at the cluster first for being loose, damaged or bent pins.

the srs light is a different issue. there is a code stored in the module for the failure.

I understand. I'll try to check the cluster connection.

The cluster comes out to reach the connector in the back? I can't get it from under the dash, correct?
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

thats correct. there is enough wire to pull it forward to access the connector

Is it possible the voltage to the cluster is low? Would a bad ignition switch cause this? It's strange because only the brake and odometer are affected, and always together.
Expert:  Roy replied 1 year ago.

if you had low voltage to te cluster, all other functions would be effected.

no, not the ignition switch as the all other functions work in the cluster.
