2002 CRV. When cold it will sometimes not start. Tries to turn over. Mechanic ran many tests and can not find anything. Starts for him. I have been to pick it up twice late at night and it will not start for me. If we wait till AM it usually starts. I am using a different key than the mechanic. Is my car haunted or am I just a lousy Honda starter?

The problem is intermittent. Usually when the engine is cold.

Yes your CR-V has a immobilizer system that prevents it from starting if the wrong key is used. It sounds like this may well be your problem. It can be very intermittent. I would ask your Mechanic to check the immobilizer system. If it does not come on at all or stays on or flashes while it won't start there is a problem with the immobilizer system.
