master tech :

Hello welcome to just answer I am master tech and will be able to assist you today.

Customer:

okay well tell me what needs to be done to have heat.

master tech :

lets start by moving the lever then if this moves the air mix motor is most likely the fault here

Customer:

is there a valve that need to changed?

Customer:

dont have a lever its push botton

master tech :

well lets first do the first part so i know which direction to proceed

master tech :

open the hood

Customer:

oaky

master tech :

look on the passengers side on the fire wall you will see 2 hoses going into the firewall

Customer:

okay

master tech :

move the little lever and this will allow the heater to work.

Customer:

what lever

master tech :

then have some one move the temp from hot to cold and watch the lever and see if it works or not

master tech :

you will see it when you look at the water valve on the firewall

master tech :

have you opend the hood to look yet ?

Customer:

once again its a push button with a round temp control

Customer:

all that has been done that while i am talking to u.

master tech :

ok so you opend the hood and found the part i have been asking about ?

master tech :

the push button has nothing to do with what im asking you to check first

Customer:

yes

master tech :

did you find the water valve and move the lever

Customer:

yes

master tech :

and does the heater work now ?

Customer:

no still blows cold air

master tech :

is the car warmed up ?

Customer:

yes just drove 5 miles

master tech :

hmm

master tech :

do both hoses feel hot that are going into the fire wall ?

Customer:

temp gauge is in normal opertating area has all new fuids

Customer:

yes

master tech :

ok

master tech :

ok both heater hoses going into the firewall are hot .

Customer:

engine still running

master tech :

blower motor is working and blowing cold air out of the vents

Customer:

yes

Customer:

40 degrees outside and its 11 pm

master tech :

ok

master tech :

the air mix door is stuck on cold

Customer:

what needs to be done?

master tech :

since you manually moved the lever to the hot position this should work

Customer:

do any thine need to replaced?

master tech :

when you move the temp from hot to cold can you see the levers on the center heater unit move ?

Customer:

not really

master tech :

im thinking this might be a air mix motor or a blend door stuck

Customer:

what is that?

master tech :

this is the door that blends cold and hot air.

Customer:

how do u fix it?

master tech :

well this is why im asking if you can see the linkage moving

Customer:

no

master tech :

do you see the one that has the cable that goes to the firewall does it move when you move the dial from hot to cold ?

Customer:

and i still do not have heat.

master tech :

the reason i ask is these air mix motors fail all the time

Customer:

i will have to check

master tech :

the heater valve when open will allow the hot liquid to flow through the heater core .

Customer:

how do we replace it and how much do they cost?

master tech :

you replaced the coolant ?

master tech :

these run around 80.00

Customer:

yes

master tech :

did you bleed the system ?

master tech :

is this a v6 or 4cyl

Customer:

after market

master tech :

dealer item only

Customer:

yes 4cyl

master tech :

ok

master tech :

when you refilled the system did you open the bleeder valve ?

Customer:

old hotrodder know a little bit. YES

master tech :

ok thats good then

Customer:

still need heat

master tech :

this is odd something does not make sense

master tech :

the water valve is open and both hoses going into the firewall are hot, the heater has to work

master tech :

unless the flow is restricted or plugged but then the inlet or outlet hose would not be hot

Customer:

its late and 38 degrees outside send it to my e mail and I will take a look in the morning. May have missed something in the dark.

master tech :

ok lets continue this in the morning

Customer:

Are east coast or west coast?

master tech :

cal west coast

master tech :

8:30 here

Customer:

okay 12 my time 9 am yours. Dont forget to send to my email i will be out in the field using laptop. its 11:30 here

master tech :

send ? maybe in the daylight something got over looked ?

Customer:

true

master tech :

did this just start after you replaced the coolant ?

Customer:

no

master tech :

i know the night does play tircks

master tech :

ok

master tech :

tricks!!

Customer:

ok

master tech :

so in the am see if the air mix motor moves the cable that goes through the fire wall

master tech :

and see if all the linkage moves when going from hot to cold.

Customer:

will do must have heat live in the south.

master tech :

38 deg's and not heat is bad

master tech :

yes very true

master tech :

Customer:
