How do I remove and replace the left front fender on a 1997 Honda civic.

Welcome to Just Answer!

Use caution not to scratch the front grille.

  1. Remove the front grill mounting screws.
  2. Depress the front clips on each side with a flat tip screwdriver.
  3. Remove the grille from the vehicle.

To install:

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Open the hood and support the hood with the prop rod.
  3. Remove the grille as outlined .
  4. Remove the two piece pin and clips from the inner fender liner, then remove the self-tapping screws and remove the inner fender liner.
  5. Detach the electrical connectors for the head lights, remove the headlight mounting bolts and the headlights.
  6. Protect the edges of the fender and door with masking tape as necessary.
  7. Matchmark the fender to the inner fender for reassembly. Trace the outline of the fender to inner fender with a sharpened No. 2 pencil.
  8. Open the front doors as necessary to access and remove the rear fender mounting bolts.
  9. Remove the fender mounting bolts at the front cowl, headlight opening and along the top of the fender in the engine compartment.
  10. Have an assistant help remove the fender from the vehicle.
  11. Installation is the reverse of the removal procedure.
