High level domestic environment factors impacting marketing decisions include general state and growth of the domestic economy, domestic economic indices such as increase/decrease in purchasing power and disposable income, consumer confidence, changes in demographic characteristics such as age, ethnicity, education and income levels of the target market, effectiveness and cost of various media and completion related issues, etc (

Global environment factors include socio-political-economic conditions prevailing in the global market, international trade policies, exchange rates, cultural considerations, international competition, etc.

      Technology impacts marketing decisions in the sense that companies evaluate the extent of use of technology in various marketing functions such as market research, remarketing, advertising, promotion, etc. in terms of cost, benefits and effectiveness before finalizing their marketing strategies.

      An organization should be working off of the mission, values, and strategic plan which is typically developed by the organizations senior leadership with input from various levels of employees. In a sense a strategic plan is a contract between senior leadership and employees on where the company is headed in the future. Where organizations typically fail, is when the strategic plan is developed, and put away on a shelf, never to be looked at again. Company success is not only dependent on meeting the organizational goals and objectives identified within the company’s strategic plan, but doing so in a manner that is aligned with the values of the organization. For instance, if a company meets its goals and objectives but fails to do so in a manner consistent with its core values, then the integrity of the organization will be compromised and significantly impact the corporation in a negative way in the future (Liebler, J.G. & McConnell, C.R.).
