I have had a mild cough and nose congestion two and half

Customer Question

I have had a mild cough and nose congestion for about two and half weeks. I recently just got over a moderate cold - but, how long should I worry about the cough? I have been taking medicine to help relieve the symptoms. Any thing else ?

Do you have phlegm at back of throat?

What is the color of phlegm?

Shortness of breath?

Clogged ears?

Pain in chest?

Which medications are you taking?

Waiting for your response.

I had yellowish green phelm when I had the moderate cold. Now! When I blow my nose its clear in color. I'm constantly blowing my nose and than I begin to cough. Its not a wet cough anymore persay- unsure if it could be post nasal. I have bad ears and history of vertigo so, my left ear is a bit clogged and hurts like like pressure pain. I'm on metformin for pcos and singulair for allergies. I've been taking alkaselzter (sp) for cough and cold. Seems to be working! I just was wandering how long this lingering cough should continue?
Thank you

Sorry for late reply and inconvenience.

Well your symptoms are related to Sinusitis.

And such lingering cough can be caused due to post nasal drip.

You can do menthol steam inhalation and do saline gargles.

Use a humidifier in your room.

Elevate your head while sleeping.

You should do nasal saline spray.

Nasal irrigation can be helpful.

And see an ENT specialist for examination and if required CT scan para nasal sinuses should be done.

You can take Sudafed.

As your cough is related to post nasal drip so you may require proper treatment of sinus infection then cough would resolve.

Hope this helps.
