Hello and welcome, I would like to help you by answering your question. I am sorry to hear that you are suffering. There are several homeopathic remedies that are very effective at treating the pain of shingles. To find the best remedy for you I would like to get a little additional information. Can you tell me when the shingles started and what areas are affected? Can you describe what the pain feels like? Is there anything that gives slight relief eg hot or cold bathing or anything else? What do they look like and are they itchy as well as painful?

The shingles started 4 days ago when I noticed a bump in the middle of my back - at first I thought I had been bit by a mosquito or spider or something but it did not occur to me it was shingles.
Then I developed a few more bumps the next day and they itched a little bit but not painful
Now they are on my stomach - all on my left side and they are painful
The pain comes and goes but I do get relief when I soak in an Epsom Salts bath
they are red , itchy and painful - but not all the time

I see. Is there any discharge from the lesions? Are you wanting the baths to be more on the warm or cool side? Do you generally have any gastric or digestive problems? Is there a part of the day or night when the pain tends to bother you the most? Is the pain more of a burning or stinging or any other particular sensation? Are the lesions very painful to touch?

There is no discharge from the blisters
Baths feel great and I enjoy them warm to hot - it feels great and the only time they don't hurt
No gastric or digestion problems
the pain comes and goes - it seems to lessen during the day and a little more intense at night
The pain feels more like a stinging sensation sometimes when other times they just feel itchy. They are definitely painful to the touch - the slightest touch of material can make them hurt

Ok, the remedy that you need to take is Arsenicum album 30c - one pill two to three times daily whilst needed. If the symptoms go, stop the remedy. If symptoms improve but are not quite gone, continue taking the remedy for a little longer until they resolve. If the improvements last, then that's great. If symptoms get better but then get worse again, then you can take another dose of the remedy. If there are no changes or the symptoms change, then you will most likely need to try a different remedy.

Here is some general information about taking homeopathic remedies. To take a dose, simply tip one pill straight from the bottle into the lid, or use a clean teaspoon to place under your tongue, without touching it and leave to melt. As with all homeopathic remedies, you need to avoid brushing your teeth, eating or drinking for twenty minutes either side of taking it as this can antidote the remedy. For the same reason it is best to avoid any coffee, large quantities of mint or the use of strong smelling substances such as menthol, tea-tree or eucalyptus whilst on a course of homeopathic treatment.
