Hello. I would like to help you with your question concerning your symptoms of mild pain under the rib cage extending into the back, fatigue, dizziness, insomnia, and hard skin that is dry. There may be an underlying medical condition that is causing these symptoms. For example, gallbladder or liver problems could cause these kinds of symptoms. Sensitivity to varnish could also be another indication of stress on the liver. So if you haven't had and examination or blood test, it would be a good idea to visit a doctor to find out the exact cause of your symptoms so that they could be treated appropriately. In the meantime, a homeopathic remedy that seems to be indicated in your case is homeopathic Nux vomica 30C. This one seems like a better choice than the Ignatia because it covers symptoms such as abdominal pain under the ribs, insomnia, fatigue from overwork, and dizziness. The dosage is 5 pellets dissolved under the tongue, 1 to 3 times per day for up to 5 days, taken 45 minutes away from meals. Dr. Zeoli

Nux vomica can be taken after Ignatia right away, or if you wanted to wait a few days to let the Ignatia have its full effects that would be fine too. Nux vomica is the remedy of choice for people who are stressed and overworked. It is a good remedy for stress on the liver. For example, business men who work all day and then go to restaurants at night to eat and drink will often require this remedy. Symptoms related to the digestion and liver, insomnia, fatigue, irritability, headaches, and other symptoms that can result from stress and overwork are well treated using Nux. One hundred years ago when this remedy was first used, women typically did not have this kind of lifestyle. However, in our modern world Nux vomica can be useful for both men and women if the picture seems to fit. Another remedy to consider is homeopathic Lachesis mutus 30C. This one is indicated for congestion of the liver and one of its keynotes is that people who need it do not want to have anything tight on them. Lachesis is commonly used in women during and after menopause, and in this way it is more of a woman's remedy.
