Hello, I would like to help you with your question about taking aloe vera to treat diverticulitis. Aloe vera is a soothing herb that can help to relieve the irritation and inflammation of the intestines associated with this condition. It is easy to find this herb at any vitamin store, health food market, or online. All of the different forms of aloe vera including capsules, liquids, and gels should work equally well. The dosage can vary from person to person and also depends on the particular product used. Taking too much aloe vera will cause diarrhea and maybe intestinal cramping. While the proper dose is just a bit less than the dose that causes diarrhea. For example, here is a liquid aloe vera supplement: http://www.iherb.com/Nature-s-Way-Aloe-Vera-Gel-Juice-Wild-Berry-Flavor-33-8-fl-oz-1-Liter/1894 The recommended dosage for this one is 1 to 8 ounces per day. If taking 8 ounces causes diarrhea, then the correct dose should be around 6 or 7 ounces per day.
