VerifiedDr. Karin : Hello, I am happy to try and help. Can you tell me if anything came before this started? An illness or a stress or taking a medication? Injury? Please also describe your depression.
Customer:
I have had a long history of undiagnosed tooth infection, about 8 years or so. I knew this, but I had to convince all of my practitioners. saw general dentist, endodontist, ENT, pulmonologist ( had sarcoid a few years ago, but no longer) infectious disease, internist, DO, accupuncturist and chiropractor, all will great frustration. I am a naturopath, too, so I have been using lots of herbs and supplements. That may have contributed to my inconclusiveness. So now, the infection is gone thanks to a new dentist. I feel better, but the buzzing that began in October just does not want to quit. I feel it is different than tinnitus as my ears do not buzz, just the base of my skull and my head. I am getting your opinion. I am trying some Arnica 30 at the moment. Thanks for any help ideas.

I assume you know a bit about constitutional prescribing. This is a chronic issue, and as a classical homeopath, the best treatment for this will be to find your constitutional, rather than trying to just treat the symptom.
Sulphur is indicated for the buzzing at the occiput alone. This may be a good remedy to begin with anyway, to 'clear' your case a bit and make an easier picture to prescribe on. This is especially true if all the herbs/supplements have changed the symptom picture in any way.
Have you ever had an ongoing relationship with a classical homeopath and worked with him/her for a good amount of time?

Thanks for your reply. I have used Sulphur a very long time ago. My homeopath died suddenly and the last one I used was disappointing, however a friend of mine just gave me the name of hers and she seems to have had good results. Until I see her, do you think Sulphur 30 is a good place to start? Or a different dosage? I am feeling a bit desperate.

Dr. Karin :
I would try the Sulphur 30...take one dose, and wait a week. If there is some change, then continue to allow that one dose to work as long as you see changes. You could repeat it if improvements begin to wear off. If you've seen no change in a week, redose the remedy once.
I am glad to hear that you'll be establishing a relationship with another homeopathic doctor. The Sulphur should, at the very least, allow her to get a clearer picture of your case.
