JA: What's the make/model number of your stereo? How old is it?
Customer: Txnr 646, 1.5 years old. It crashed, when I turn it on all I get ng:lr.
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: I was playing music. I tried everything suggested in the manual
JA: Anything else you want the theater expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: I would like to repair it, if it is reasonably not too

Hello, my name is***** to Justanswer! Give me just a few minutes to look up some specifics, I'm working on this now.

Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

Let's see if we can bring it back to life. The first thing I want you to do is unplug it, and all of the speaker wires. Reconnect the speaker wires, and make sure no stray strands of wire are touching across terminals. Try turning it on.

If that still doesn't do the trick, let's try clearing the error that you are seeing.

While holding down CBL/SAT on the main unit (note that step 2 must be performed with this button pressed down) . While holding CBL/SAT, press ON/STANDBY on the main unit ("Clear" appears on the display and the unit returns to standby).

Turn it on, turn up the FM tuner, and tell me if you get sound.

I have done everything you suggested and I get nothing. It never changes from ng:lr.
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

Sorry to hear that. When you did the reset, did it appear to go through?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No. Nothing changed on the display.
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

Then it didn't go through. Were you using the remote?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No. I was not using the remote.
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

That's the problem. Please use the buttons on the front of the receiver.

While holding down CBL/SAT on the main unit (note that step 2 must be performed with this button pressed down) . While holding CBL/SAT, press ON/STANDBY on the main unit ("Clear" appears on the display and the unit returns to standby)

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I did use the buttons on the front, not the remote..
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

Did it ever say clear, or reset?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
No. Again it never changed ng:lr.
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

Ok, this needs to be done exactly right, or it won't work. But, this is the reset procedure for that exact model. Holding CBL/SAT on front of the unit, then pressing ON/STANDBY until you see Clear is the procedure. Please confirm that you pressed both buttons at the same time before releasing them.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
both. I have that particular technique
several times
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Done it several times. It is in the ops manual.
Expert:  Rusty replied 2 months ago.

Well that's not good news at all. If it won't come out of protect mode, then you have a short in your front left and right amplifiers. This isn't an easy, or a cheap repair. I'll open the question back up in case another expert can troubleshoot further.

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
That's what I originally thought, the front amps blew.
If the repair is more than $2/300 I'll just
buy a new one.
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I noticed you were quick to take the fee but I still don't have a viable answer.
I am not pleased.. .
I will wait for the next response and see what you gentlemen have to say.. .
Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Thanks. ..
Expert:  crash2199 replied 2 months ago.

I apologize that you had to wait a while.

Do you still need help with your issue?

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
Nothing is resolved.
Expert:  crash2199 replied 2 months ago.

Thank you for confirming. I have read over your previous conversation with Rusty.

Unfortunately, it will likely cost $200+ to fix the issue and I can see that you mentioned that the fee is not worth it to repair (which I agree)

Customer: replied 2 months ago.
I would like my money back. You guys have no answers.
