Customer Question

Harmon Kardon AVR 254 powers up for 2 to 3 seconds and then goes into standby mode. Tried placing 3.15A 125V fuses in parallel with the SR-5 Time Delay fuses near the power transformer with no help, still goes into standby mode.

Hi Dave and welcome to the site, I’m Louie. Sorry you had to wait awhile but I’ll do my best to help.

Initially, have you tried unplugging for an extended period of time? ...and then plugging back in and trying with no speaker/wires connected?

Are there Service Codes associated with these units?

Appreciate the additional information.

The described symptom and results of what have been tried would almost always point to an internal hardware issue.

Are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? If yes, do you have access to and familiar with a multi-meter and even perhaps a soldering iron?

Equally important, would you be comfortably familiar working on the internal circuitry? ...LIVE?
