it will not recognize dvd or cds when inserted into player.
JA: What's the make/model number of your stereo? How old is it?
Customer: model AV3-2-1 MEDIA CENTER
JA: What happened right before this popped up? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: TRIED SEVERAL DVD DISC AND CD DISC WITH SAME RESULT. USED AN ARESOL AIR CANISTER THINKING IT COLD BE A DUST PROBLEM.

It is a base system. Not sure but have had several years. Will serial number help establish age?

First suggestion is to unplug the unit's POWER cord for 3 full minutes. Plug back in, test for normal operation.

Next would be to use a CD/DVD cleaner Disc in the player. These do a much much better job than just blowing compressed air into the unit: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003EEMDMC

If those don't help then the laser inside the unit needs to be serviced by an authorized Bose service center: http://www.service-center-locator.com/bose/bose-service-center.htm
