Customer Question

I have a Nakamichi Tape Deck 2 which I rarely use. It will not output to the amp now. It plays through the headset monitor OK. I checked that the RCA connections were correctly plugged into the Adcom amp just as it has always been but nothing comes out from the speakers. Phone and radio work just fine. Any suggestions?

Hi John and welcome to JustAnswer,Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...Initially and if all external factors have been checked and ruled out, then the described symptom would almost always be an internal hardware issue, are you then considering a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair approach? If yes, do you have access to and familiar with a multi-meter and even a soldering iron?

Actually, I think I will wait until my brother comes to visit. He is an electrical engineer.

I understand John.As posted above, an internal hardware issue or more particularly, potential suspects after a review of the Service Manual and schematics are:• RCA-to-RCA cable to and even the amp itself (least likely);• cold solder or failed wiring/connector CN-13/PIN Jack P.C.B. (likely);• muting circuit including Q118L & R (most likely). Please post back when checked/tested.
