Hi and welcome to JustAnswer,

Thank you for the question and your patience. Should you still need assistance for information purposes only...

Initially, have you tried:

  • • check or better yet replace the RCA-to-RCA cable;
  • • the other SUBWOOFER PREOUT jack;
  • • disconnect the subwoofer's RCA plug from the rear of the Pioneer only and touch the tip only to determine if the subwoofer would produce a thump/humming sound;
  • • ensure FRONT SPEAKER setting is set to SMALL;

Please post back results / observations of the above once tried.

all are correct, still nothing going to sub. When i do speaker test, then the sub works, but while watching a movie, or playing music no sound goes to the sub

Have you considered / tried a RESET of the Pioneer VSX-45 ? ...a reset is both a test and a try of a fix. As it implies, a reset would force the unit to revert back to factory defaults removing glitches and config errors but would include memories, presets and user preferences.
