We purchased a home that was an estate sale. the owner had died. we have no clue as to what the security code is
JA: What's the make/model of your device? How old is it?
Customer: ademco system-model 4110dl-installed 6/28/1994
JA: How long has this been going on? What troubleshooting have you tried?
Customer: we closed on the house 12/22/2016. I opened the panel looking for a on/off switch. that's about it. I read the manual and that's how I found out about the security code.
JA: Anything else you want the security expert to know before I connect you?
Customer: no.....does this cost anything?

The programming procedure for this model is on page 9 of the manual, which is at this link:

You will have to power up the system while pressing those two buttons. This is the only way to reset the system. There is a possibility that the system is setup to no be allowed to reset. If this is the case, then the only way to program the system without the master code is to replace the panel.
