My father recently passed away and he had an old alarm

Customer Question

My father recently passed away and he had an old alarm system installed...before I was born I'm sure. I have left it off for now mainly because I do not know the pass code and after calling around town...I cannot figure out who installed it. It's an FBI XL Star 4600 DL. It is powered on...but not armed...and I dare not touch it because I don't know the passcode.
I need to know how to set a new passcode to it. I don't want to mess with the main box till I know what to do.

Yes this is quite an old system...

If you don't know the old passcode and if the install codes has been changed from default then all that can be done is to default the system back to factory default...

Let me see if I have a manual for that model...

The default user code is 1234 so try that, google and download a user manual...

If no luck then try [CODE] [*] then 4600

If goes into program mode press [STAY] to exit and come back to me...

Ok. I'll try that today. If it doesn't work...and the system begins to set the horn off (which is quite loud), how to I cut power to that?
Expert:  Neil replied 1 year ago.

Find the control box (about a foot and a half square) open it and remove the battery and unplug from the power...
