I have a subfloor with some residual pet odor. If I paint it

Customer Question

I have a subfloor with some residual pet odor. If I paint it with a sealing primer (like Killz), will it be resistant to the glue needed to install vinyl sheet flooring?
JA: Have you talked to a construction professional about the floor?
Customer: Yes. He doesn't know the answer.
JA: Do you plan on doing the work yourself?
Customer: Just the painting--a floor specialist will install the vinyl flooring.
JA: Anything else we should know to help you best?
Customer: not that I know.

You're better off using urethane. It will bond better to the surface assuming it's free of dirt and grease and it is a better barrier to odors. Your vinyl adhesive will be OK on top of it
