My tub spout turn and turns. There is no slot where a screw would be. How do I remove or repair?

Hi my name is ***** ***** I have been in the plumbing field for 20 years. I will be glad to help you today. There is not a slot on the bottom of the spout where it meets the wall of the tub? You may not see a screw there but do you see the slot? Does it squeak when you turn it?

No squeak. No slot. The spout is very close to the shower surround and it has been caulked.

The service provided was excellent. However, our tub was a rig job and the solution provided did not fix the problem. It did reveal the problem though.
