Have older than 2005 Craftsman garage door opener. When try

Customer Question

Have older than 2005 Craftsman garage door opener. When try to open door it stops when about 18 inches open. Disconnect door opener from door and both opener and door alone seem to work fine with no hang up. If press door opener and go over quickly to help door go up it all works fine. Is the problem the door or the opener.

Hi good morning,

Is there any binding at all when you manually open the door while its disconnected from the opener?

Also does the motor sound normal?

And what happens when it stops at about 18" up, can you re activate it and what direction will it go when you do? Back down?

Thank you
