What is the model number of your unit?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
one second please
the service manual says 6-576-2. does that sound right or do i have to go into the garage and look for it on there?
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

You'll need to check the rating tag on the unit. That's not a model number

Customer: replied 1 year ago.

Are you getting a flashing LED on the control board? If not try turning off the power then jump the R & W terminals on the unit's thermostat terminal strip then turn the power back on.

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
I get 6 flashing lights
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Ok, there should be a label on your unit telling you what that flash code indicates

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
system Lockout"
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

That's all? no more details?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
Thats what the servic manual says
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Ok, try what I outlined earlier. Leave the power off for at least a minute

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
The unit starts but it does not ignite
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Sorry for the delay you last post just came up.

Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Does the igniter initialize? do you hear a ticking/arcing noise?

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
it clicks but doesn't fire up
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

I'm not talking about a relay clicking the pilot arc is a constant ticking noise until the burners fire up. If that's what you have then you may have a problem with the gas valve. You need to check for 24 volts AC at the gas valve when the electrodes are arcing

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
No it's not a constint tick
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Then you need to pull the igniter and check the gap it should be 1/8" also check for a bad connection, corrosion, frayed wiring or a cracked insulator on the ignitor

Customer: replied 1 year ago.
It was a cracked igniter
Expert:  Rick replied 1 year ago.

Glad you found the problem. I'd appreciate a favorable rating.
