This is often caused by the thermocouple
being defective or not getting hot enough
before the pilot button is released.
If you have had success lighting the fire pit
up until now then check the thermocouple.
Located close to the pilot light.
If it has been accidentally moved out of place
it may not operate properly..
If it looks undisturbed and you have not had trouble
in the past then it may need replacing.
If the unit is new or you are unfamiliar
with it the knob you push in to light
the pilot needs to be held in for at least
15 seconds or longer while the thermocouple
heats up.
Other causes can be a blocked orifice
at the burner.
Moisture in the propane tank.
I will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
