Im repairing a mail box, one of those that look like cast

Customer Question

I'm repairing a mail box, one of those that look like cast iron but are actually pot-metal. I am trying to re-attach the hinges that broke off.......what's the best method to repair this problem?

Welcome to Just Answer!

Can you post a picture of the hinge using the paper clip icon in this dialog box? or post it to and send me the URL address to it?

Glues or welding or epoxy will not work. We will have to find a way to attach brass plated or stainless steel hinges to the box with nuts and bolts. The larger the better.

Let me know, we can go from there.

I will be out of the office for a few hours this morning, then back from about noon to 10 pm.
