hot water is running yellow

My hot water in the house is yellow, Do you know what the problem is?

This sounds like a hot water heater problem

Sometimes you can flush it out by turning it off then putting a hose on the drain

Reply to glenn's Post: So, are you saying that we need to drain the hot water heater? If that does not solve the problem does the hot water heater need to be replaced? Is this yellow a health hazard if we are taking showers, You cant even tell that it is yellow in the shower, only if you fill a tub or sink. It could have been going on for a while without us knowing.

The yellow tint is lime build up it's always been there you are just noticing it because it has built up in the heater if you have good pressure i wouldn't replace it just shut the power or gas off to it and hook a hose to the drain and give it a good flushing

As far as a health hazzard i would say no i see this all the time

One thing you may want to consider is a filter on the water
