Good evening,
After what you are explaining, the only thing in my opinion is a weak/worn pump in trans,
pump is worn, oil is thick, then oil gets thin as it gets hot, and slips thru the oil pump, worn gears .......Hands down this the problem

The problem is with the reverse piston, either the seals in reverse piston are leaking, or the check ball in the piston is stuck open or missing completely. It is part of the piston and is sold only with the piston. It is used to seat when pressure is applied and unseats when pressure is released, which lets pressure drop in the piston and keeps it from dragging when the opposite clutch is engaged. The only way to fix is to remove the reverse piston and check the valve and reseal the piston as needed.
No, the piston is inside the transmission clutch pack. You have clutch plates that are squeezed together by the piston to make the selected shaft rotate.
